Meet Team RonTon!

1. What is your real name?

Ron & Sue Tonneson

2. Where is your home location?

Cedar Rapids

3. When did you start Geocaching?

August 31, 2002

4. How did you learn about Geocaching?

Our son who works for Garmin was home and asked if we had tried this new activity using a GPS called Geocaching. We had not so we said we would give it a try. We signed up and found three on our first day: I380 Eastern Iowa Airport Bughotel, Treebeards Revenge and Amana Colony Cache.

5. What is your favorite part of Geocaching?

Sue loves to find anything unusual, unique, weird and/or strange in our caching travels. We also enjoy multi-puzzles that involve collecting needed info from various sites in order to solve the coordinates.

6. What types of caches do you enjoy most?

Cemetery caches, puzzle caches and caches that bring back long-forgotten memories.

7. What is the favorite cache you’ve found?

49 AND HOLDING THE CACHE A GOLD MINER'S DELIGHT, From the Halls of Montezuma and Armar Ballroom Carnival Memories Cache (see logs)

8. Outside of Geocaching, what other hobbies/interests do you enjoy?

Ron volunteers with the Wheelchair Ramp Accessibility Program (WRAP). We build ramps free of labor cost for those in the area that need them for home access. To date I have helped on 284 projects. Sue has knitted thousands of hats that have been donated to various organizations in eastern Iowa that service the homeless and needy. She also knits baby hats for the NICU at the U of I Children’s Hospital. She also has a vast interest in the paranormal and has worked with a local investigation team. We also work with Safe Haven of Iowa County on various projects. Safe Haven is a no-kill dog and cat rescue organization. But nothing beats time spent with family and our new great-granddaughter.
