Welcome to the IGO!

Welcome Guest!

Note:  If you have previously registered an account here but cannot successfully log in, please try using the 'Request new password' link in the User Login box.  If you haven't logged in for more than 18 months your account may be blocked or it may have been deleted automatically.  In that case please email the registration@iowageocachers.org address, include your username, and ask nicely to be reinstated.

You are more than welcome to have a look around the internet home of the Iowa Geocachers Organization.  Many of the features of this web site (and of the IGO) are restricted to members only.  But membership is FREE and we'd love to count you among our many members.

We have been receiving lots of bogus registration attempts lately, so if you would like to register for an account here please use the link provided here to send an e-mail to registration@iowageocachers.org.

Important!  The body of your e-mail MUST contain a brief statement indicating what your interest in the IGO is AND the username you wish to register under.  Are you a geocacher?  An Iowan just getting started in geocaching or wondering just what this geo-thing is?  Please let us know.  Failure to include this information may invalidate your registration attempt.  Your registration will be tied to the e-mail address used to send this message.  Confirmation of registration could take up to a week so please be patient.  Thank you.

Our Mission: To support and promote geocaching in and around Iowa through the education of geocachers, public officials, and the general public; to encourage safe, legal, and ethical geocaching practices; and to encourage and support an open, helpful, and fun geocaching community.

The three person team, sometimes four (if daughter Kristen is involved) has 14,194 finds. They have 411 hides with 265 still active. Their name comes from a combination of the words games and science. So now we all know how to pronounce it, although most prononuce it “gam-see”.

This months interview is with Des Moines area geocachers Mon”rose”, Sue and Mark Monroe.

They were among the first people to allow us to tag along with them at events and enjoy the day together.
