Attention! If you had an existing web site or forums account on IGO's old web site please be advised that your account MAY have been transferred automatically to this new site.  However, there is no guarantee that all of your data or forum posts made it across to this new site.  In fact, some of your profile data MUST be updated.  This includes your votes for "favorite" caches, your found/placed stats and possibly your avatar (picture) and signature.

When you visit this site you will generally see only "teaser" information...the first paragraph or two of each post.  Always make sure you look for the "Read More" link at the bottom of the post and it if exists click it to open the full text of the story.

Please click "Read More" now to see the rest of this Welcome announcement!

Please follow this procedure to configure and explore your new account:

  1. Find the User Login box in the lower right corner of this page.
  2. Click the "Request new password" link found there.
  3. In the form provided fill in the e-mail address that you previously used for registration with IGO (either the forums or web site).
  4. If your e-mail is already registered you will recieve an e-mail reply (usually within an hour) with your username shown near the top and with instructions to follow for setting up your new password and account.

Note that information in this registration e-mail is good for 24-hours only and can be used only one time.  If you are unable to complete a password reset please return to step 1 and try again.  You can repeat this process as many times as you like and as often as you wish.

If you get one or two error messages like these:

The phpBB username _________ is not found in phpBB.
Sorry, unrecognized username or password. Have you forgotten your password?

then please follow these simple steps to try and fix the problem.

1)  If you had a valid IGO FORUMS account on the old system please try using that username and password to login here.

2)  If step 1 doesn't work or if you never had a valid IGO FORUMS account then please create one now.  To do this visit the "Forums" link at the top of the right-hand column.  Once in the forums use the "Register" link to create a new account there.  If the process works correctly the username and password you create in the forums will also work in the new IGO web site.

If you cannot get the password reset process to work after multiple attempts then you probably don't have a valid account with IGO at this time.  In this case please use the "Create new account" link in the User Login box to establish a new account.

Once you have a working account and are logged in, you should see your username at the top of the "navigation" box on the right-hand side of the window.  Please find the "My account" link below your username and click on it.  This link opens controls to your account and profile settings.  To make changes click "Edit" and then "Account" or "Profile".  Update as much of your profile information as you wish to share with other members.

Always be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the page and
click "Save" to record any changes you make.

If you receive fatal errors when trying to login or switch between the site and the forums, please try clicking your browser refresh button.

A final note...  If you experience problems with the appearance of some pages on this new site (like the forums in particular) please know that this site was built and debugged using Mozilla FirefoxFirefox is free to download and if you're not using it already please consider doing so if possible.  There are many known issues with Internet Explorer (even with the new version 8) and overcoming them takes considerable effort on my part...so IE-specific changes to this site will be few and far-between.  More to the point, since Mozilla is an OpenSource project it has substantial communty support and a robust tool-set making it easy to debug.  IE is both expensive and difficult to debug, so some IE issues may never be addressed.

IGO is an informal organization of geocachers from in and around Iowa.  The organization is open to anyone interested in geocaching in Iowa and we have no formal established boundaries.  Everyone is welcome!

If you are new to the “sport” of geocaching and want to learn much more about it you’ll find a wealth of information at Geocaching.com and Geocacher University.

If you would like to become an IGO member (it’s free!) or if you’re looking for information about registration or our members please visit our Member Info pages.
