At last night's IGO BOD meeting the Board approved the adoption of a new cache review feature that's now available on this web site. In a nutshell, tagging a cache for review will place that cache into a queue where a designated IGO member will review it and, if appropriate, forward the information to Iowa Admin to have the cache considered for archival.
Submitting a cache for review in this manner does NOT guarantee that the cache will be archived...this is just one way that we hope to assist Iowa Admin with the task of cleaning up caches that have been muggled or are otherwise in need of replacement or archival. This step should, however; help IGO to keep our database of cache information cleaned up since we currently have no way of automatically removing archived or inactive caches from our own online database.
One criteria is that the cache which you are tagging must have been previously logged as "Should Be Archived" at Geocaching.com.
Want to learn how you, as an IGO member, can tag a cache for review? Well, the easiest way to learn this (and see another new IGO web feature) is to download and view the attached instructional video. The video is about 3 minutes long (17 MB file) and is in .wmv (Windows Media) format. It may take a few minutes to download depending on your internet connection speed but once you have it the image and audio (turn up your speakers!) should play on almost any version of Windows.
Clicking this icon should open a link to the video file.

Nice tool but, I found out sometimes I was being quick to jump the gun. I have earned to give the owner time to post plans to check on the cache (I now give 3 or 4 weeks). If then no action is taken by the owner, I will go ahead and tag the cache for review.
And this is going to do any more good than putting a should be archived on a cache ourselves how?
I submitted a cache for review. Wow It got archived finally. I was trying for more than 2 years now.. But using the new feature on IGO it was archived qucikly. It was just a few easy steps. Nice qucik and easy...
Thanks for adding the feature...
Very nicely done. I really like this idea and am looking forward to implementing this. Not so much for those of us who are active cachers already, but rather for those people who may just be getting into caching.
Thanks so much!
