My real name is Mark Freed, and I'm half of the caching team 'markayla' out of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I originally started caching in 2003 with my dad under the team 'Let Freedom Ring'. We found several caches together over the years, but in 2011, Kayla and I decided it was time for me to leave the 'father/son' team and 'markayla' was then born.
We have enjoyed caching over the last several years around the state, as well as on vacations in Minnesota, every county on the way to Texas, and we even cached on our honeymoon in Hawaii! We also, very appropriately, got engaged through a Geocache! We've thoroughly enjoyed having this hobby that gets us outdoors and keeps us active. On top of that, we have loved the social aspect and we've made some great friends through caching.
I made the decision to run for the IGO Board because I believe the organization has done great things to promote Geocaching in the state of Iowa. I'm very excited to be a part of it and would love to help the organization continue to grow into the future!
