My name is Chris Roling and I started geocaching in January 2013. I learned about goecaching while interviewing a prospective candidate for a position within our office. I asked the candidate what he liked to do in his free time and he told me about goecaching. I was instantly hooked! Not only did we end up hiring that candidate (Markayla), we ended up caching together a lot.
I started out chasing mostly traditional caches, but eventually started getting interested in puzzle caches, multi caches, and wherigos. Now I go out of my way to grab those non-traditional caches. I really enjoy the extra challenge that you get from those non-traditional caches.
During the past few years, I have really enjoyed attending different events. Attending events has given me the perfect opportunity to meet other geocachers in the area. The social aspect of geocaching just can’t be beat. I have met some great people through my involvement in geocaching. When I first started geocaching, I was fortunate to meet several veteran cachers that would help me out when I needed it. Now I have geocachers ask me for help, and it feels great to be giving back!
I would be interested in serving on the Board of Directors for the IGO. I feel that I have personally gotten a lot out of this amazing hobby and feel that it is time to give back. I would welcome the opportunity to use my time and energy to serve on the board.
